Derek Goodman

30th January 1934 – 6th February 2024

 

The Branch and Club are saddened to announce that Derek Goodman passed away peacefully on the 6th of February 2024.

Derek joined the Royal British Legion in 1952, and was a loyal member of the West Wickham branch until his conscription into the RAF.

Derek started using the Hayes branch in 1963, and joined the club in 1968.During the 1970s, Derek became an active member of the committee, culminating in becoming chairman in the late 1980s.

During this time, Derek organised the purchase of the bungalow at no 12, and oversaw its absorption into the club.

Derek continued as chairman and committee member throughout the 1990s, eventually becoming Club President, a role Derek held until the last few years.

A large part of the success of the club is due to the work and commitment Derek played over the many years along with his leadership and experience for which we will be forever thankful.

We send our love and condolences to Doris and other family members.

Derek’s Funeral will be held at Beckenham Crematorium on Saturday 2nd March 2 at 11am, and afterwards at the family home.
